US Soy promotes feed efficiency and sustainability at VIV Asia 2025

The US Soybean Export Council (USSEC) highlighted the benefits of US Soy at VIV Asia 2025, focusing on feed cost optimisation, animal nutrition, and sustainability. The event, held from 12–14 March in Bangkok, attracted industry leaders discussing advancements in feed efficiency.

Southeast Asia is a growing market for US Soy, driven by demand for high-quality feed. The Philippines has been the top importer of US soybean meal for the past eight years, with Vietnam and Indonesia seeing imports rise by 110% and 49%, respectively, over the past five years.

“Southeast Asia’s preference for US Soy reflects the need for sustainable feed solutions,” said Timothy Loh, USSEC’s Regional Director for Southeast Asia & Oceania. “US Soy offers nutritional and economic benefits that boost feed producers’ competitiveness.”

In Marketing Year 2023/24, Southeast Asia imported 9.08 million metric tonnes of whole soybeans and 20.89 million metric tonnes of soybean meal, reflecting the region’s growing use of US Soy for protein-rich feed.

The demand is fuelled by US Soy’s amino acid digestibility, improving animal performance and feed efficiency. It offers a $5–$10 per metric tonne return on investment for meat producers. Its consistency and quality, ensured by ideal growing conditions and drying practices, make it reliable for feed formulation.

“US soybean meal optimises feed formulations, lowers costs, and boosts productivity,” said Dr Thomas D’Alfonso, Global Director – Animal & Aquaculture at USSEC. “U. Soy supports long-term sustainability.”

At VIV Asia, experts discussed digestible amino acids in nutrition, reducing feed production’s carbon footprint, and sustainability strategies.

USSEC continues to promote sustainable, high-quality US Soy to support Southeast Asia’s feed producers and unlock profit opportunities.
