dsm-firmenich Animal Nutrition & Health has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bureau Veritas Solutions Denmark to promote verified carbon footprint measurement in the animal protein industry.
The partnership will utilise Sustell™, dsm-firmenich’s life cycle assessment (LCA) platform, to support the calculation and validation of greenhouse gas emissions and reductions in animal feed and protein production.
By combining dsm-firmenich’s data platform with Bureau Veritas’s verification capabilities, the initiative aims to support carbon reduction efforts across the supply chain while enabling producers to generate measurable value from emission improvements.
Dr. Heinz Flatnitzer of dsm-firmenich said the collaboration allows sustainability to become a driver of value rather than a cost, helping farmers balance environmental and income goals. Sustell™ will be used to quantify and validate environmental impact and improvements across operations.
Tomas Riegels-Jørgensen of Bureau Veritas said the agreement supports traceable, reliable carbon data and contributes to the industry’s transition toward sustainable practices.
The collaboration is expected to strengthen transparency and traceability across farm-to-fork systems, helping the animal protein industry meet reporting standards and environmental targets.
