Lights-out milling – “One step further” for the Alapros Intelligent Milling Platform
How many flour mills are now equipped to operate with no staff on the factory floor? It’s a goal many are trying to achieve but one where remote control continues to play a role in how successful a mill can operate on its own.
Mehmet Alapala, from Alapros, Turkey, talked to Roger Gilbert of Milling and Grain at this year’s IDMA 2026 event in Istanbul in late June and made reference notably to the unique components and innovations now firmly encompassed in the company’s new Goliath rollermill, He also made the comment that one of his customers, with support from Alapros, is now capable of locking the flour mill on a Friday evening and not returning to open the mill until Monday morning with the whole mill operating according to a pre-loaded schedule for the full 60-hour period!
It will not be long before a mill can run ‘lights out’ for the full working week, especially using Alapros’s new Intelligent Milling Platform, he claims. And that is the goal the company is working towards with its technology within turnkey projects.
This is a 20-minute video, where Mehmet takes us on a journey that will be of interest to all flour millers globally. So, make a coffee, sit back and enjoy the journey!
