The FlourWorld Museum in Wittenburg is calling on the global milling community to participate in World Flour Day 2025, set for 20 March, 2025. This year’s theme, “Feeding the world starts with feeding your community. Let your actions speak!” highlights the importance of flour as a staple food and emphasizes the responsibility of the milling industry in supporting local communities.
World Flour Day aims to raise awareness about the significance of flour while encouraging companies in the milling and baking industries to engage in social projects. These include donating flour to food banks and other charitable organisations, as well as volunteering for local initiatives.
Volkmar Wywiol, founder of the FlourWorld Museum, said that flour is life and that the World Flour Day stands for many things, “We celebrate the significance of flour and show appreciation for farmers and millers who provide this vital resource. It is also a day of solidarity, where the flour industry contributes to social causes.”

In addition to public actions, internal community involvement is a key focus. Peter Steiner, Global Head of Business Unit MC Mühlenchemie, highlighted that subsidiaries worldwide would organise team projects to support local social initiatives. The FlourWorld Museum, which houses the largest collection of flour sacks in the world, plays a central role in organising World Flour Day.
20 March, marking the beginning of spring in the northern hemisphere and harvest season in the south, symbolises the cycle of growth and nutrition, aligning perfectly with the objectives of World Flour Day, said FlourWorld.
