AgCom Doubles Capacity with Second Omas Line

AgCom Flour Mill has doubled its milling capacity with the addition of a second Omas production line, following the commissioning of its first line in 2019, according to Omas Industries.

The mill, a sixth-generation family business based in New Oxford, Pennsylvania, USA, now operates two state-of-the-art Omas production lines under one roof. According to Bratney, Omas’ official US dealer, the facility has expanded to 5000 cwt per day with the addition of a second 2500 cwt scalable flour milling line.

According to the companies, improved extraction rates and energy efficiency achieved with the first AgCom Omas milling line led the former to invest in a second. The mill is the first in the United States to take advantage of Omas’ energy-saving Leonardo roll stands, which use torque direct drive technology.

Bratney described the project as a turnkey, forward-thinking mill layout that easily accommodated the recent expansion. The facility was opened to visitors during the IAOM Niagara, Southeastern, Wolverine and Ohio Valley Joint District Meeting, held on 16–18 September in Gettysburg, with a tour of the mill taking place on 18 September.

Omas also delivered a technical session during the meeting, presented by Dillon Phillips of Bratney, titled ‘Torque Motor Hybrid Drive System: Design, Operation, and Application.’

According to Omas, the repeat investment reflects the performance delivered by the first line, which provided greater efficiency, lower energy consumption and stronger performance.
