The Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Mykola Solsky held a working online meeting with the Minister of State of the Ministry of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs of Great Britain Mark Stephen Spencer.
During the meeting, the parties discussed urgent problems of the Ukrainian agricultural sector and financial support for Ukrainian farmers.
Mykola Solsky emphasised that the war and, in addition, unfavorable weather conditions created a number of problems for Ukrainian farmers.
Currently, the agricultural sector of Ukraine needs financial support and assistance in increasing market liquidity.
Mykola Solsky noted that Ukrainian farmers must be provided with credit funds. The World Bank, the International Finance Corporation (IFC), and the European Investment Bank (EIB) have created programs to provide appropriate financial support to Ukraine.
The Minister suggested to his British colleague to consider the possibility of a partnership between the Government of Great Britain and other financial institutions with, in particular, the World Bank in matters of supporting the financing of relevant credit programs for Ukrainian farmers.
The parties agreed to return to consideration of the possibilities of providing support to the agricultural sector of Ukraine.
