Italian Soft Wheat Flour Exports Rise 14.83 Percent

Italian soft wheat flour exports reached 202,654 tonnes in the first half of 2026, up 14.83 percent compared to the same period in 2025, according to data from the Italian National Institute of Statistics (ISTAT) reported by ITALMOPA, the Italian Association of Millers.

According to the association, the growth puts year-end projections on track to reach the 400,000-tonne mark.

The United States has become the leading export market, following record first-half growth of 38.42 percent, ahead of France (up 9.22%), Germany (up 11.11%) and Spain (up 23.1%), as reported by the association.

ITALMOPA attributes the performance to the careful selection of the finest wheat, regardless of origin, combined with the Italian milling industry’s technical expertise and state-of-the-art milling techniques. The association also cites the industry’s ability to meet the specific requirements of premium market segments abroad, from pizzerias to high-end patisseries, as a strategic driver of the export growth.

According to ITALMOPA, investment in quality, milling technology and innovation has positioned Italian soft wheat flour as a premium ingredient and a key ambassador for authentic Italian food culture on global markets.
