IPACK-IMA 2028 Unveils Global Vision for Packaging Innovation

IPACK-IMA, officially presented its 2028 edition during a press conference held on May 8 at Messe Düsseldorf, outlining an expanded international strategy focused on innovation, industry partnerships and market-driven solutions for the packaging and processing sectors.

From May 29 to June 1, 2028, the packaging, processing, and novel materials exhibition will be held in Fiera Milano. New initiatives, strategic partnerships, and the evolving exhibition format intended to bolster IPACK-IMA’s global significance were unveiled by the event organisers.

“IPACK-IMA 2028 is a system in constant evolution, built on the belief that innovation is an art,” said Valerio Soli, highlighting the exhibition’s commitment to combining creativity, technology and technical expertise while responding to changing market demands.
The larger ecosystem surrounding IPACK-IMA was one of the presentation’s main topics. The pharmaceutical and life science industries will continue to benefit from the major exhibition, which is being held in collaboration with BolognaFiere. A new exposition devoted to liquid food and beverage innovations, which will open from November 17–20, 2026 in association with the Italian Wine Union (UIV), is another significant addition.

Through the ProPak network created with Informa Markets, which strengthens IPACK-IMA’s footprint throughout Southeast Asia, India, Africa, and South America, international expansion continues to be a key component of the plan.
Early exhibitor rebookings for the 2028 edition have already climbed by 22% over the previous cycle, according to Simone Castelli, indicating strong industry confidence amid volatility in the global economy.
In 2028, several new projects will make their debut, such as a Technical and Scientific Committee tasked with influencing exhibition content and the direction of the business going forward. The extension of Smart Factory live production demonstrations and IPACK-Mat’s emphasis on next-generation materials were also confirmed by the organisers.
Once more operating in collaboration with Deutsche Messe, IPACK-IMA 2028 will provide an integrated platform that links packaging, processing, and intralogistics technology globally.
