GDM finalises acquisition of AgReliant, strengthens global leadership

The acquisition of AgReliant Genetics, a significant supplier of maize and soybean seeds in North America, has been completed successfully, according to GDM, a world leader in plant genetics. The agreement, which guarantees all of AgReliant’s stock, is a significant turning point in GDM’s plan to increase its footprint and innovation pipeline in North America.

The combined company is positioned to provide farmers in the area with more value, innovation, and choice by fusing GDM’s worldwide reach and innovation in premier row crop genetics with AgReliant’s market leadership in U.S. corn breeding.

Through the acquisition, GDM’s footprint in North America has expanded to include brands including DONMARIO, Mustang, Revere, and Virtue, GDM is the industry leader in soybean genetic licensing. The well-known brands of AgReliant are PRIDE® Seeds, LG Seeds, and AgriGold®, known to be one of the biggest genetic pools of temperate corn in the world. With this acquisition, GDM becomes the fourth-largest supplier of maize genetics globally and the world leader in soybean genetics.

AgReliant’s former CEO, Brian Barker, has been named President of GDM North America following the completion of the deal. “Today marks a powerful step forward as we unite under a shared purpose – to be exceptional partners to our customers and advance agriculture in a way that consistently drives higher seed and yield performance,” Barker said. “Together, we are building a more powerful, innovative and integrated portfolio of seed solutions that creates more choice, more value, and greater yield potential for North American growers.”
