Forever Feed Technologies announced the completion of the FFT Innovation Centre at River Ranch Farms in Hanford, California, home to the world’s largest Automated Sprouted Grain (FFT-ASG) feed mill. The mill produces fresh sprouted grain daily to supplement feed for dairy and beef cattle, using significantly less water than traditional alfalfa farming.
The facility, designed to grow up to 50 tonnes of ASG per day, aims to reduce the risks posed by droughts and severe weather while contributing to sustainability goals, including Net-Zero emissions by 2030. The mill’s innovative approach requires a fraction of the water typically used for field-grown crops like alfalfa.
Jack de Jong, CEO of Forever Feed Technologies, said the innovation centre marks a key step in developing larger commercial-scale feed mills that will supply fresh feed year-round. A single commercial-scale mill is expected to serve the daily feed needs of more than 2,500 dairy cows.
The FFT Feed Mill was developed in partnership with JR Automation, a Hitachi company, which integrated advanced material handling systems with FFT’s growing protocols. The new mill is designed to meet the high demands of major dairy and beef operations while providing a reliable, sustainable feed source.
