The European Feed Manufacturers’ Federation (FEFAC) has elected Nicolas Coudry-Mesny as its new President for the 2026–2029 term and awarded Honorary Membership to Iani Chihaia, President of the Romanian feed association ANFNC, at the 71st General Assembly in Bucharest.
Coudry-Mesny, who serves as procurement manager at MAISADOUR in France and is President of EUROFAC, succeeds the previous leadership at a time of geopolitical tension and trade disruption.
“I look forward to representing the interests of the European Compound Feed and Premix Manufacturers in these unprecedented times, characterised by the end of the rules-based global trade order, resulting from geopolitical tensions and raw power politics which deeply impact the resilience and competitiveness of the EU livestock and aquaculture value chain,” Coudry-Mesny said.
He added that FEFAC welcomes and supports the European Commission’s efforts to stabilise trade relationships, foster diversification and address strategic dependencies in protein and feed additives supply chains.

Iani Chihaia awarded Honorary Membership
Separately, Iani Chihaia was awarded FEFAC Honorary Membership in recognition of his exceptional contributions to the European compound feed and premix industry.
Chihaia was praised for his pioneering role in establishing the “New” Romanian feed industry association in 2014, obtaining official recognition from Romanian authorities and unanimous acceptance as a full FEFAC member in the same year. He also organised the first FEFAC biosecurity workshop in Bucharest in 2019, focusing on Avian Influenza and African Swine Fever, which laid the groundwork for the revision of EFSA’s risk assessment on feed ingredients and the development of FEFAC’s first biosecurity guide for feed mills.
Chihaia has served as a highly effective FEFAC ambassador in South-Eastern Europe, promoting the feed industry’s contribution to safe, resilient, and competitive livestock and aquaculture production systems.
