DSM-Firmenich Animal Nutrition & Health has partnered with Zenkei Company Limited to enhance sustainability in Japan’s feed and egg production sectors. The companies have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to implement DSM-Firmenich’s Sustell™ platform, which will assess and reduce the environmental impact of animal proteins.
The partnership will allow Zenkei to use Sustell™ to measure and optimise the environmental footprint of feed. Zenkei is also developing a new feed that incorporates dried food waste, which has a 30-50% lower environmental footprint compared to traditional feed.
Both companies aim to improve sustainability in the Japanese egg industry. Zenkei’s efforts are part of its broader strategy to reduce environmental impact and meet sustainability goals.
Dr. Mongkol Kaewsutas from DSM-Firmenich stated that the partnership would help Zenkei optimise operations. Zenkei’s Director, Mr. Shotaro Takasugi, emphasised the role of eco-feed derived from food waste in the company’s sustainability plan.
The MOU between DSM-Firmenich and Zenkei is expected to set a standard for the industry.
