IFEEDER and Milling4Life invite donations for Mark Cornwell Scholarship Fund
Roger Gilbert of Milling and Grain Magazine announces the Mark Cornwell Scholarship drive at the American Feed Industry Association's Equipment Manufacturers Conference, happening this week in San Antonio, Texas.
The Institute for Feed Education and Research (IFEEDER), in partnership with the Milling4Life (M4L) charity, has launched a fundraising drive in support of a scholarship that provides financial assistance to students pursuing careers in the food and feed manufacturing sectors.
The charities announced today that they aim to raise $75,000 USD over the next few months, with the goal of offering the scholarship in perpetuity if sufficient funds are raised. The Mark Cornwell scholarship is named after the late Mark Cornwell, a leading voice for the food and feed industries, who passed away last year.
It will provide scholarships to students from around the world taking advanced courses in grain storage, handling or processing, and/or food and feed manufacturing, at a variety of US institutions, including the acclaimed Kansas State University.
"Mark was not only well-known within the American milling sector, but was widely respected globally," said Roger Gilbert, publisher of Perendale Publishing's Milling and Grain Magazine, at the American Feed Industry Association's Equipment Manufacturers Conference in San Antonio, Texas.
"We want to recognise the contribution he made over some 30 years serving the milling industry and a scholarship fund through IFEEDER is an ideal way to do that. The industry has to take greater responsibility globally for the future of its industry and training is an important aspect. The Mark Cornwell scholarship fund is being supported by the Milling4Life Charity, which has been set up in the UK to serve the global feed and food milling sectors to ensure our industry meets the food supply challenges of the future," he added.
IFEEDER and M4L are inviting companies and individuals throughout the industry to donate to the scholarship fund via IFEEDER's website, HERE.
